After the death of his uncle he returned to Wales in 1838 to live with his aunt at Ruthin, Denbighshire.

At the age of 44 he qualified as a barrister and was called to the bar in 1853.

He became Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Denbigh.

He was Mayor of Ruthin for 4 successive years.

2.  JOHN PIERCE² MAURICE (THELWALL BLISSET¹)² was born 1798, and died 1874.  He married JANE LUCY POWYS² 1836, daughter of THOMAS POWYS and HENRIETTA GUILLYM-ATHERTON.  She was born 1811, and died 1905.

3.  ARTHUR CORBET³ MAURICE (JOHN PIERCE², THELWALL BLISSET¹) was born 1844 in Romsey, Hampshire, and died 1908.  He married EMILY STUART MONTAGU⁴ January 15, 1884, daughter of JOHN MONTAGU and ISABELLA BEAUCLERK.  She was born April 1849, and died December 17, 1940.
