I am uncertain about the connection between the first two John Myers. I think they were possibly cousins.
Elizabeth Stable married John Myers 3 Feb 1746. He was baptised 21 Sept 1718, the son of William Myres of Kirksanton.
and she was christened 22 Mar 1719 or 22 May 1720 (her father was William Stable) and from the Millom parish registers Betty Myers, wife of John Myers of Dunningwell was buried 6 Dec 1803, aged 83.
From the Millom parish registers I found two daughters, Mary born 1749, and Elizabeth (1753-1771).
The second John Myers married Hannah but I have been unable to find his birth or marriage. There were a lot of Myers/Myres in Cumberland. Does anyone have information about Myers pre 1800?
I have been unable to trace Valerie Bacon, daughter of Frederic Bacon. He married in Marion Fenner in 1911 and later divorced.
Frederic Bacon died in 1943 and his estate went to his infant daughter, Valerie May who was born 14 Nov 1921.
Of the 12 children of Charles John Myers and Mary Caroline Ward only Arthur Myers and Gertrude (Myers) Bacon had any children.
Margaret Myers' newspaper clippings have some information about the Brisco family of Crofton Hall, Cumberland. Sir Robert Brisco married Annie Drewry Rimington, daughter of George Rimington of Tynefield House, Cumberland. Is there a connection between them and the Rimingtons of Broomhead Hall?
I also have information about the Bromhead family of Thurlby Hall, Lincs.
Lieut Gonville Bromhead distinguished himself at the defence of Rorke's Drift, Zululand only to die in Allahabad, 1891, of typhoid fever.
Samuel Broomhead Ward's maternal grandmother was Helen Bromhead (IGI) who married John Linfit 1746 in Sheffield. Is there a connection between the Bromheads and Broomheads?
I haven't got very far with Douglas Hastings Macarthur's family at 11 George St and 16 Canal St, St Andrew's parish, Edinburgh. What happened to his parents, Duncan Macarthur and Jessie McLean? There is no record of the Macarthur Family in the 1851 Edinburgh census. In 1851, D.H Macarthur was living with his aunt, Elizabeth McLean, at Broxt Cottage, Monks Kirby, Warwickshire. Her niece M.L.D Macarthur was living with her in 1881 at Beckenham, Kent.
The other two sisters of D.H. Macarthur, Elizabeth and Jessie Maria;
Elizabeth came to Feilding, NZ c1878. She may have been living near Monks Kirby before then.
Jessie also came to NZ. She married Robert Helton Johnson, 11 June 1874 in Blenheim, NZ. They had four daughters and a son. I am still trying to trace this family. Robert and Jessie Johnson were living at Oteramika Road, Invercargill when they died.
James Montgomery Hannay appears to have been born 27 July 1827 in Torhouskie, Wigtown, Scotland. He married Lucy McEwen in New York or Toronto pre 1857- I would like to find this record and the birth record for his daughter M.L.L.Hannay born 1857 in Toronto.There is no trace of where he was from 1875-1898.
The Morshead family went back to England in the 1920's and one son (Godfrey) went to the USA. I would like to hear from any descendants of this family.
